LAREAU LINDQUIST, Founder

Good Morning Friend,

All of us continue to be amazed with news coming out of the Soviet Union and other parts of Eastern Europe. When Gorbachev became the President of the Soviet Union, he initiated a number of measures which have forever changed the face of his country and the surrounding countries. Many of us are still shocked by the changes. We never expected to see them happen. Some of us are perhaps still skeptical.

In the last thirteen months I have had the privilege of ministering in both the Ukraine and Russia on two separate occasions. Just before leaving Moscow several weeks ago, a small cluster of friends stood with me within the Kremlin. We made a visit into one of the six ornate Russian Orthodox churches, all located right in the Kremlin. There were only a few other tourists there at the time so we felt the liberty of quietly singing some songs together. Although our group was small, our music filled the high-domed church with rich, warm sounds. We sang several songs…

Alleluia

All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name

Something about that Name

As we sang the latter, the words carried special significance…given the setting and the current crumbling of the system of Communism. Listen to these words by Bill Gaither…

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

There's just something about that Name.

Master, Savior Jesus

Like the fragrance after the rain.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

Let all heaven and earth proclaim

Kings and kingdoms will all pass away

But there's something about that Name.

Our eyes were moist with the emotion of the moment. Our hearts were touched with the reality of what we were singing. Kings and kingdoms will all pass away. Indeed, we were standing in one of the most awesome centers of world power…but a political system that was quickly fading…more accurately, crumbling. But there's something about that Name. The Name of Jesus has stood the ravages of time. His Name will last forever. Jesus always was, is, and shall be. When all else has come and gone, there will be that Eternal One who will forever be King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Paul eloquently discussed the ultimate destiny of Jesus as Ruler over all in Philippians 2:9-11…

"God has highly exalted Him to the highest place and given him the name that is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Historical scenes change from time to time. Governments change. Leaders come and go. But we can be confident of this one thing. Jesus Christ is now the Lord of Heaven. He is at work in history. Soon He shall be Lord over all.

J. Stuart Holden said…

Jesus does not want a place in your life.

He doesn't even want prominence in your life.

He wants pre-eminence in your life.

Friend, we have chosen wisely to commit our lives to Christ. Love Him. Serve Him. Follow Him. He deserves our very best. Keep on preaching Christ…sharing Him as widely as possible. He has been declared the Winner.

Be encouraged,

Lareau Lindquist
